Happy 14-Year Work Anniversary, Mindy
November 2, 2020
By Brett Grischo

2020 has been a challenging year for literally everyone. The things to celebrate have often been overshadowed by things we’d like to punch in the face. Sometimes small distractions feel large because they take your mind away, even if just for a couple hours.

Tomorrow will be a crazy day in the news. If you are looking for something to celebrate today, before you either celebrate or want to escape to a deserted tropical island tomorrow then I suggest you give Mindy Ganter a call, or text or email or socially distant high-five because we are celebrating her fourteen-year anniversary here at Explore Communications.

Woot woot! Congratulations Mindy! And Congratulations Explore! We are the lucky ones to have you here all these years. In all honesty, Mindy’s work anniversary was a couple weeks ago. Other than remembering my own kids’ birthdays, I suck at remembering important milestone dates and it’s sometimes surprising that I’m able to retain my Work-Husband of the Year Award for 14-years counting (perhaps its because I have the only vote?).

I wish we could celebrate Mindy’s 14-year work anniversary mo’ bettah’ with an in-person celebration and many toasts, but flowers, this post and remote kudos have to do for now. It is indeed fun to have something nice to celebrate in 2020, so thanks Mindy, you are the bestestestest! No punches to the face here!

I bet Borat has been punched in the face a few times. His new movie, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm came out recently on Amazon Prime and is worth watching for plenty of laughs and cringes. This is his follow-up film to Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, which came out 14-years ago when Mindy took the job at Explore Communications! Amazing!

Even more glorious than the fictional nation of Kazakhstan is the hiring of Mindy Gantner to join the Explore Communications family back in 2006. Smartest business move I’ve ever made in my life that also made me a better man. I owe you Mindy. 2006 was a very good year.

You know what else happened in 2006? Google bought YouTube for $1.65 billion in stock and Disney bought Pixar for $7.4 billion. Mindy cost me a little less than that but she sure has been worth the same!

2006 is also the year George Mason was the Cinderella story of NCAA Basketball as they made the Final Four only to lose to eventual champions, the Florida Gators. Guess who was in college watching March Madness back in 2006? That’s right, our Associate Media Director Sarah was learning all about Reach & Frequency and securing free drinks from Frat boys while Mindy was negotiating her work from home on Fridays benefit as part of her Explore employment package. No, we aren’t old at all Mindy.

Another noteworthy event in 2006 besides Mindy starting at Explore was the release of High School Musical. Speaking of high school, check out the Senior picture of our Media Planner Andi, from two-thousand-fricking-six. Andi was probably at Prom while Mindy and I were working on a Weber grill media plan. Okay, maybe we are sorta old, Mindy.

Look at us now, right Mindy? You, me and Jon are the wily veterans with Sarah and Andi now all grown up and helping us kick butt at Explore. We are the Spinal Tap of media planning – always turning it up to eleven! Oh shoot. That reminds me. You know who was eleven in 2006? Emily! Our Media All-Star was barely in double digits when you beat me up for that extra week of vacation in your employment package. Can you imagine 11-year old Emily working on those LCB invoices with Tatumn?

Oh crap. Tatumn. Yes, we are waaaaaaaaaay old Mindy. You know that awesome new person we hired a month or two ago to assist everyone and help Jon runs millions of dollars of clients’ money through our media buys? Yeah, Tatumn was in second grade when you and I shook hands and hugged to seal the deal on you joining Explore.

It’s a good thing we’ve worked on Balfour for so many years. We have a head-start on finding our next home after Explore, right? It’s been a fabulous fourteen years with you Mindy. And our young team of expert media professionals has made us cronies so much better. And they owe a lot of their professional success to you, Mindy.

So thank you again, Mindy. Happy 14-anniversary at Explore. Here’s to 2006 and here’s to one of the best parts of 2020. Cheers!

  1. Hilarious! I did love the new, definitely cringe-worthy, Borat movie and have loved Mindy for all the years I’ve known her (over 11 years!). Mindy, I miss working with you! Brett, I love this deserved celebration of Mindy. 🙂 Look forward to seeing you all again in person someday. Keep doing all your great work, Team Explore!

  2. Well done Brett and congrats Mindy to so much success! You’re beautiful inside and out and like fine wine get only “mo betta” with age!
